STL Airport Reaches Major Milestone in Terminal 1 Roadway Construction Project

St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) has completed a major construction project that altered many passenger pick-up areas on Arrivals Drive at Terminal 1. Most ground transportation pick-up areas will move back to their original locations on Arrivals Drive on Friday, August 2 by 6:00 am.
Passenger pick-up for private motor vehicles will return to its original location on north lanes of Arrivals Drive, at Exit 17. Employee, terminal and SuperPark shuttle pick-up locations will also return to the north lanes of Arrivals Drive between Exit 11 & Exit 12. Rental Car and off-airport parking shuttles will also return to their original location, on the lanes south of the Arrivals Drive along the center island. Ride share (Uber and Lyft) pick-up and drop-off in Terminal 1 will remain on Departures Drive, near Exit 6. Charter bus pick-up and drop off remains on Departures Drive, near exit 6. Hotel and motel shuttles will also remain on Departures Drive, near Exit 6 until further notice.
“We’re grateful for the patience and understanding of our passengers and guests during this construction project,” said Airport Director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge. “STL continues to grow to meet passenger demand and we’re thrilled to have Arrivals Drive in Terminal 1 back open during the peak summer travel season.”
The roadway portion of the construction project was completed in two phases, with all lanes of Arrivals Drive being resurfaced to replace aging concrete. The new lanes have dedicated Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant pick-up areas for shuttles and motorists with convenient routes to accessible paths.
The final phase of the project is constructing a new ramp and staircase between Arrivals Drive and Departures Drive, which is projected to open in early 2020. Until that project is completed, visitors and passengers can access each drive through the Terminal.
