Fighting Fires: STL Photo of the Week
Posted on September 20, 2019 in
Each year, as required by the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA), St. Louis Airport Rescue Firefighters (ARFF) participate
in a training program at St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) using a
Mobile Aircraft Rescue Trainer. The mobile trainer, provided by the University
of Missouri Fire & Rescue Training Institute, is a 50 foot fuselage capable
of producing simulated fires, including a fully engulfed aircraft. The training
takes place within the secure space of the airfield, away from normal
operations. The training program lasts for three days, covers all shifts, and
utilizes various scenarios to ensure our ARFF team is prepared and well-trained
for any situation.
