Exhibition Inspired by Wanderlust Now On Display at STL

A new collage series at St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) combines the magic of nostalgia with contemporary design. Phantasmic Revolution by Lola Ogbara is composed of 15 collage paintings using watercolor, illustration, and glitter that encourage the mind to think of design outside of customary understandings.
Through the use of multiple materials in her work, Ogbara is able to create paintings that appear three dimensional and cater to the wanderlust of travelers at STL. Phantasmic Revolution sparks the curiosity of viewers by playing on their own conception of design and travel, and challenges them to transform their travel experiences.
Lola Ogbara is a St. Louis-based interdisciplinary artist, sculptor, and arts administrator who was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Entertainment & Media Management from Columbia College Chicago. In 2017, Ogbara co-founded Artists in the Room, a collective of artists and scholars who host artists, emerging and well-known, in hopes of serving as a catalyst for artist development and networking. Ogbara has received numerous
honors and awards, including the Multicultural Fellowship sponsored by the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) 52nd Annual Conference. Ogbara has exhibited in galleries and museums across the country. She is currently a graduate student in Washington University's MFA program.
Phantasmic Revolution is now on display through November 18, 2019 in Terminal 2 near gate E10 and is part of the Lambert Art & Culture Program’s temporary exhibitions program. The program is supported by the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis.
Lola Ogbara was chosen to exhibit in the Lambert Art & Culture Program through the Airport’s seven-member Airport Art Advisory Committee. Current members are Lisa Cakmak, Associate Curator of Ancient Art at Saint Louis Art Museum; Ellen Gale, Executive Director Clayton Chamber of Commerce; Shelley Hagen; Leslie Markle, Curator of Public Art, Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum; Kiku Obata, Founding Principal of Kiku Obata & Co.; Roseann Weiss, consultant with ART+; and design artist and illustrator Carlos Zamora.
The Lambert Art and Culture Program builds upon the culturally rich legacy of St. Louis Lambert International Airport. Our mission is to elevate the visitor experience and uplift regional pride through the presentation of artwork created by local, national, and international artists.
