Delays and Deals: STL Photo of the Week

St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) has seen minimal impact to normal operations during the 35-day government shutdown. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) staffing levels at STL are very close to normal and no delays have occurred as a result of call outs. However, on Friday, January 25, 2018, the effects of the government shutdown were felt in STL. A shortage of air traffic controllers on the East Coast created a rippling effect for the entire country. STL was also affected, as numerous flights from STL to New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) were delayed or cancelled. With a deal reached today to end the government shutdown, Federal employees in the aviation industry can focus on what they love most - keeping travelers safe in the sky.
