Cape Air Expands at STL with Flights to Quincy Regional Airport

Posted on October 24, 2019 in News

Cape Air will operate year-round flights to and from STL to UIN.

Cape Air, one of the largest regional air carriers in the country, has announced they will resume daily, year-round service from Quincy Regional Airport (UIN) to St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL). Cape Air was awarded the service for two years by the Department of Transportation (DOT) through the Essential Air Service program (EAS). The service is set to begin on December 1, 2019.

Cape Air currently operates 14 daily flights from STL to four other airports: Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois (MWA), Kirksville Regional Airport (IRK), Decatur Airport (DEC), and Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport (OWB). The addition of this service will add three daily flights.

“We’re excited to see Cape Air expand their service at STL,” said STL Director, Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge. “Cape Air has been a wonderful regional partner for STL. The daily, year round service to UIN will make it extremely convenient for business and leisure passengers alike to travel to St. Louis or beyond on the many connecting flight opportunities.”

Cape Air’s President, Linda Markham, shares, “For the last two years, the Cape Air team has been focused on returning to the Quincy market to do what we specialize in - connecting communities with dependable, regional air service, and providing the benefits of our partnerships with the major airlines. With our new contract and new aircraft, the Tecnam P2012 Traveller, we are excited to enhance our schedule and expand opportunities for business and leisure travel at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.”

Cape Air’s expansion comes after STL saw four percent passenger growth during the 2019 fiscal year, marking STL’s best year since 2000. Airlines at STL average 250 peak daily departures to 74 non-stop destinations during 2019.
