Art Abounds: STL Photo of the Week

Most people don’t think of airports as cultural institutions, particularly when it comes to the arts. St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) has been trying to creatively challenge that notion since 2012, when the Lambert Art and Culture Program began with the opening of the Lambert Gallery in Terminal 1. Since then, STL has featured more than 60 curated exhibitions by St. Louis institutions including the Missouri Botanical Garden, World Chess Hall of Fame, and Laumeier Sculpture Park, as well as more than 100 local artists at multiple locations throughout STL. This week, STL announced a call for artists who would like to display their work at STL between 2020 and 2023. STL is also seeking Requests for Qualifications for the 2020 Legacy Project, which will be a two-dimensional piece located post security within the C Concourse checkpoint. As the welcoming point for many to our region, STL is delighted to greet passengers with displays of the best local artists and exhibitors, showcasing the diverse talent of our region to the world.
