Ameren Missouri Lambert Community Solar Center Now Operational

The Ameren Missouri Lambert Community Solar Center, located on land owned by St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL), is now fully operational and providing solar power to customers.

The Ameren Missouri Community Solar Program, which is owned and maintained by Ameren Missouri, was launched in 2018, has proved to be extremely popular. Customers can utilize solar power without having to install or maintain solar panels on their property, allowing access to renewable energy for many customer who would otherwise not be eligible. The program sold out in 55 days and the wait list continues to grow.

“We are pleased to be part of Ameren Missouri’s efforts to provide more solar energy to the region,” said Airport Director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge. “This partnership is just one of the ways STL is able to use land protected under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations while also allowing Ameren Missouri customers to limit their ecological footprint, something STL is committed to as well.”

 “Opening the Ameren Missouri Lambert Community Solar Center is one of many steps we are taking toward bringing renewable energy to our customers," said Michael Moehn, chairman and president of Ameren Missouri. “Expanding our popular community solar program by developing additional solar facilities gives even more of our customers the opportunity to benefit from renewable solar energy and moves Ameren Missouri closer to its goal of providing 100 megawatts of solar energy by 2027.”

The new Ameren Missouri Lambert Community Solar Center is the latest example of how STL is committed to increasing environmental sustainability. STL has also partnered with Ameren Missouri to help decrease energy usage both in the terminals and on the airfield. STL has replaced thousands of traditional fluorescent light bulbs with LED light bulbs through Ameren Missouri’s BizSavers Program, resulting in annual savings of over $500,000.
