Southwest Expands Spring Break Destinations in 2019 from STL

Southwest Airlines is expanding its international service for the prime 2019 spring break travel season from St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL). In its latest schedule released today, extending bookings from March 7 to April 7, Southwest has added two new Caribbean markets with Saturday service from STL to both Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ) and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ) - both pending final governmental approvals on those new flights. STL became Southwest’s 15th international gateway less than a year ago when it launched its first international flights from St. Louis to Cancun, Mexico (CUN).
Southwest is also re-starting seasonal service in March 2019 to West Palm Beach, FL (PBI) on Saturdays and Charleston, SC (CHS) on Sundays.
“The expansion of scheduled international service shows the continued strength of St. Louis as a destination and as a connecting airport for Southwest Airlines,” said St. Louis City Mayor Lyda Krewson. “The international destinations are in addition to strengthening frequencies and schedules to several other cities on the Southwest schedule.”
Southwest is STL’s largest airline and in March 2019, will operate 118 daily departures M-F, 101 Saturday departures and 120 Sunday departures. That’s an increase of as many as seven daily flights (Sundays) more than March 2018. Those increases reflect some of the newest daily destinations added in the last year including Sacramento, CA (SMF), San Jose, CA (SJC), and Hartford, CT (BDL). Southwest has also added additional weekday service to Philadelphia, PA (PHL), and Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA). Additional Saturday or Sunday frequencies were also added to Orlando, FL (MCO), Fort Myers, FL (RSW), Nashville, TN (BNA), Detroit, MI (DTW), Los Angeles, CA (LAX) and Milwaukee, WI (MKE). In total, Southwest will be serving more than 50 destinations in March 2019.
