Sea of Green: STL Photo of the Week

Posted on December 21, 2018 in

In the early morning hours of Friday, December 21, St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) was bustling with a sea of green. Today is what we affectionately refer to as Green Day. It’s the day thousands of service members from Fort Leonard Wood and Scott Air Force Base make their way through STL to travel home for the holidays. The USO of Missouri plays a huge role in making sure these service members are taken care of during their stay, organizing free giveaways with local organizations like the St. Louis Cardinals, Budweiser, and the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri. Service members also receive free food, beverages, and even photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Today is expected to be the busiest day of the holiday travel period, with more than 22,000 passengers checking in and going through security at STL.
