Glowing Glass: STL Photo of the Week

Under the colorful domes of St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) a new exhibition by St. Louis area artist Kaeko Maehata’s glows. The exhibition, SHIRO-KURO and IRO-IRO, is composed entirely of hand-blown glass flowers and vases that evoke feelings of sunshine and warmth, filling the Terminal 1 Ticketing Lounge with an abundance of color and beauty. Using traditional European and Japanese glass blowing techniques, each piece is incredibly unique. Maehata’s delicate designs play with color and design so that the flowers seem so bountiful that they overflow their containers. While the cold weather is moving in, IRO-IRO will undoubtedly remind travelers that spring, and the beauty that comes with it, are just a few months away.
